Le Mans 2016 Le Mans 2016 Season Finale

Geoffroy Rivet returns to the series with an impressive pole three seconds ahead of Widmer, Derossi, Barclay, Bosson, Timms, Slotine and Lamplough in brilliant conditions at Le Mans Bugatti FRFR circuit - our first appearance on this track since the inauguration of the Historic F3 1000cc European Trophy in 2001. The race on Saturday is rather chaotic with five cars in the mixed grid not getting off the line, two safety car phases and a red flag at the end of the race when a front axle fails on Slotine's Merlin at the Dunlop chicane - luckily without causing further damage. The podium in race 1 is very international with Derossi, Widmer and Barclay representing FRFR France, CHCH Switzerland and AUAU Australia respectively, followed by SESE Bosson, GBGB Timms, FRFR Slotine, GBGB Lamplough and FRFR Rivet. A short downpour before the second race on Sunday resulted in slippery track conditions for the first few laps. Geoffroy Rivet had the best strategy to attack the drying track as the sun came out and wins the last race of the season ahead of Derossi while Widmer completes the podium. Derossi wins the 2016 championship ahead of Widmer and Bosson. Results, video and pictures are now online.

Zandvoort 1970 Zandvoort Historic GP

A great entry of 28 screamers gathered for the Nations Cup at the Zandvoort Historic Grand Prix NLNL. This was the first time that the Historic F3 1000cc European Trophy was present on this circuit and the track turned out to be fantastic for our cars. Mark Pangborn took full advantage of having raced at this track before and secured pole ahead of Gallo, Derossi, Armer, Fischer and Bosson. Derossi had the best start in race 1 and took the lead ahead of Fischer, Armer and Pangborn on the opening lap. An unfortunate nudge on the second lap at turn 3 ended Armer's weekend and brought out the safety car. Derossi stormed away after the restart while an impressive Sergison realed in car after car and secured P2 and fastest lap ahead of Thompson, Widmer, Mussa and Blockley. Sergison took the lead on the second lap in race 2 and Derossi, despite trying hard, just couldn't find a way past the fast British driver while further back spectators enjoyed close racing throughout the field. In the end, Sergison scored his first Historic F3 victory ahead of Derossi and Scott while Widmer, Messer and Mussa rounded out the top 6. Team Switzerland CHCH wins the 2016 Nations Cup ahead of Team Great Britain B GBGB and Team France FRFR. Results, pictures and video are now online.

Brands Hatch Brands Hatch SuperPrix

The stand-alone double-header race on the Grand Prix circuit at Brands Hatch GBGB attracted 25 screamers for qualifying on Friday morning. James Denty secured pole half a second ahead of Simon Armer as pre-qualifying favorite Jon Milicevic struggled with a fuel pump issue, Roland Fischer's ambitions where cut short by a broken crank shaft and Goodwood winner Andrew Hibberd parked his Brabham in the gravel during a short mid-qualifying drizzle. Armer lead early on in race 1 but Hibberd was irresistible and moved up quickly to secure a comfortable win while close battles could be observed throughout the field bringing on big smiles all over. Race 2 on Sunday was started based on best laps times from the day before which meant less work and an even more dominant win for Hibberd while recording a fabulous 1:38.4 as fastest lap. Just as the day before, excellent battles could be seen through the field such as Thompson vs Pangborn for second ahead of Armer, Mussa vs Widmer for 5th until Mussa retired, Bosson vs Holland for 6th, Muller vs O'nion and Slotine for 8th, Sewell vs Messer and Maynard for 11th and new comer Pircher vs Froude. Overall an excellent weekend on this brilliant track - a big thank you goes to Keith Messer for all his hard work to make this screamer double-header possible! Results and pictures are now online.

Paul Ricard Paul Ricard

Competitors enjoyed a lot of sunshine and great conditions overall for the 2016 championship start in the South of France on the Paul Ricard FRFR circuit in Le Castellet. Widmer narrowly beat Gallo in qualifying to win his first pole ahead of Derossi, Bosson and Slotine while Delea, Fischer and Timms all struggled on three cylinders. Gallo lead early in the race 1 and set fastest lap but had to retire due to a broken push rod, thus handing victory to Widmer ahead of Derossi, Fischer, Bosson and Slotine. The start for race 2 was delayed due to a long oil line on the first sector of the track which needed to be cleaned up and eventually produced a spectacular cloud of dust on the opening lap. Fischer won the second race while Derossi and Widmer enjoyed a good fight over P2 until the Chevron's engine started to overheat. This gave Bosson and Slotine an opportunity to battle for third place on the podium ahead of Timms and Delea. Results, pictures and video are now online.

Goodwood 74MM Goodwood #74MM

The 2016 F3 1000cc season was launched in style when 28 screamers gathered for the Derek Bell Cup at the 74th Members' Meeting at Goodwood GBGB. Andrew Hibberd drove superbly in qualifying, set a new lap record and grabbed pole ahead of last years podium with James King on P2, Peter Thompson on P3 and Simon Armer on P4. This promised to be an exciting race for Sunday. The 25 screamers got well off the line but unfortunately two cars entangled on the opening lap which brought out the safety car for a lengthy period. Hibberd stormed away to an unchallenged victory when racing resumed while further back spectators enjoyed close battles all the way through the field such as Thompson and Blockley fighting over second, Armer and Mussa for fourth place and Widmer, Kite and Smith for sixth place. Results and pictures are online and a highlights video as well as full coverage of the race are available on YouTube.
